Game 2, the Padres broke out the sticks as the homered their way to an 8-2 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the best of 7 series. Edgardo Alfonso led off the 5th with his 2nd solo shot of the series and Vlad Guerrero would have capped off the5 run 5th with a 3 run shot. The Padres continued in the homering ways in
Game 3 as the knocked out 4 in route to their 7-6 win to take a 3-0 lead. The Padres bullpen would proove to be essential again in
Game 4 as Steve Reed gave up a solo home run to Aaron Boone with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game and Luis Gonzalez finished it off with a Walk Off shot in the bottom of the 14th for the Angels only win.
Game 5 featured the ultimate pitching match-up as Pedro Martinez went to the hill for the Padres and Randy Johnson for the Angels. Johnson would give up 4 solo home runs in the game. 2 to Marquis Grissom and 2 to Derek Lee to help lead the Padres to the 4-1 victory and the 2003 America's Baseball League Championship!
