In the first ever ABL ALCS, it looked to be a one sided battle as the Royals looked far superior on paper. But thats why we play the games. In Game 1, the Angels Ben Molina hit a 2 run single in the top of the 8th inning that proved to be the difference as the Angels took Game 1 5-3. The Angels continued their winning ways in Game 2 as the beat the Royals 7-4 behind a strong pitching performance by Derek Lowe. The Royals would come to life in Game 3 as they pounded John Lieber for 7 runs on 13 hits for the 7-1 victory. Game 4 was the product of a bad situation for the Royals. In the 6th inning Armas had given up 3 hits and no runs. In the 6th, the Angels got a base hit and a walk before Tori Hunter stepped to the plate. The pitch got away from Armas and tatooed him in the back. He didnt like that too much and the benches cleared. When all was said and done, the Royals lost Armas to ejection, Olerud (3 days), Renteria (7 days) and Bernie Williams (8 days) to injuries. The Angels ended up tieing the game at 3 in that inning and Scott Speizio hit a walk off home run in the 9th to win it.

In Game 5, Randy Johnson does what he does best. He shut the door. Johnson threw a complete game 4 hit shut out, sending the Angels to the first ever ABL World Series!
